Former Town Hall (nowadays the Municipality of Levice building)

Until the half of the 18th century Levice did not have a real Town Hall. That is to say reeves hold offices in their own houses. At the end of the 19th century aldermen of Levice had made a decision to erect  the Town Hall, whereby they considered the site of an old town house to be the best palce for its construction.

Project was designed by an architect Rudolf Czibulka. The Town Hall built in late Romantic style with Ugrian secession elements was festively handed over to the Levice reeve Ľudovít Bódogh. In the 1920s the town began to ponder upon a reconstruction of the Town Hall since original space had not been adequate any more. Hence municipal authorities invited tenders for  a project which was won by the original architect – Rudolf Czibulka. He provided an original and economic solution of the reconstruction without dismantling the truss. The roof of the building was dismantled into sectors and supported by pilasters. The truss was elevated by  screw jacks whereby  the second floor was gradually built up in bricks.
